WellbeingOctober is an excellent time for businesses and organisations to highlight the benefits and perks that boost the mental wellness of their staff.

World Mental Health Day falls in October, and mental health charities and the media raise awareness of mental health issues and various ways of improving wellbeing and mental health. Autumn and the shift into winter is also a challenging time for some people, with the days turning shorter and colder.

If your organisation offers our Wellness Programme, here are some ways that you can promote it this October, to make sure your employees know what’s available, and to encourage them to take advantage of this helpful benefits package.

The Enjoy Benefits Wellness Programme includes five videos and accompanying fact sheets designed to help staff nurture and boost their emotional and physical wellbeing. Let’s take a look at all the videos in more detail, and consider how they can work to support mental health in October.

Sleep and Nutrition

Because physical health can impact our mental well-being, our Wellness Programme has two videos on sleep and nutrition. These are both areas where information and insights from experts are growing almost daily, and most employees could benefit from knowing more.

Sleep and nutrition can also be things we take for granted, yet they’re something we should learn to value and prioritise, and our easy-to-follow videos help with that.

Signposting the Sleep and Nutrition videos is a good way of reminding people of the important role that getting enough rest and eating healthily plays in maintaining good mental health.

Finances

Money worries can cause significant anxiety and stress, which can have a big impact on our overall mental health. So it stands to reason that boosting financial skills and awareness can have many positive pay-offs, including reducing worry and increasing confidence.

Our wellbeing video on Finances shares the basics around budgeting and explores the ways employees can begin building the foundations that will lead to a more financially stable future.

It feels especially relevant in these times of higher living costs and economic uncertainty. Enjoy Benefits also offers a host of benefits that can save your employees money on things like childcare, mobile phones and technology, will writing, days out and holidays, and even shopping.

Emotional Agility

Emotional agility, or residence, is a skill that can be improved, helping us to interact with colleagues, family and friends more happily. Being emotionally agile also equips us to meet life’s challenges, with more resources and tools at hand.

The Emotional Agility video in our wellbeing package focuses on providing people with the practical tools needed to ‘de-escalate’ their nervous systems and manage any anxiety they may be feeling in these uncertain times.

Mental Health Awareness

Our Mental Health Awareness video makes it plain that everyone has mental health and things can go up and down over time. The video explores common issues such as depression and anxiety and helps people spot the signs and symptoms in themselves and others.

For employers and managers, it also provides a language to enable people to begin conversations about mental health with staff or colleagues sensitively but with confidence. This can go far towards fostering a supportive working place for people who are struggling.

View all our Health and Wellbeing resources on our website, and please get in touch with us if you’d like to find out more. We hope this post has given you ideas and encouragement for engaging with World Mental Health Day and wellness at work, with the help of our supportive Wellness employee benefit.
