By Tom Smith Quiet quitting is a new significant change in workplace culture that is dominating social media. It has nothing to do with actually quitting your job, however.

Instead it means only doing exactly what your role demands and nothing more. So no longer going the extra mile or staying at the office late into the evening.

Due to the strains created by the pandemic, an increasing number of workers – young and old, across a wide range of sectors – are saying they’re tired of lack of recognition from employers and no compensation for putting in the extra hours.

With the cost of living crisis and a fragile economy, people are nervous about moving jobs. Quiet quitting seems to offer a temporary alternative where job satisfaction has wanted.

So what better way this winter to thank staff for their hard work and keep them motivated and on-side with a whole new range of staff benefits? Staff rewards make employees feel valued and can make a real difference to the money in their pocket each month.

We offer a full range of Employee Benefits to businesses. Take a look at the benefits that we offer, or get in touch to discuss benefits for your staff in more detail.

Why offer Employee Benefits?

Offering benefits to your employees helps with staff attraction and retention. It’s a way of showing that you value them as people, giving real, practical help and support for their interests, lifestyles and personal situations.

Feeling valued and supported boosts performance and productivity, especially in the long term. But employee benefits don’t just help staff members. They help your business too.

Did you know that employee benefits can actually save your business money? For every £1 you spend on employee benefits, your company can typically make more than £3 back in savings on National Insurance. Read more about the savings that employee benefits offer your business here.

And the more benefits staff take, the greater the savings can be for your business. Our research shows that employees tend to use four or more benefits, so it’s important to offer them a good range to choose from as a one-size-fits-all strategy is unlikely to be effective.

If you don’t already offer benefits to your staff, or even if you do, but wander about how to help drive engagement, give us a call and we will take the time to understand you and your team to help create the right solution for your employees and your company.

Which benefits should you choose?

  • Private medical Care
  • Critical Illness Cover
  • Rewards and Recognition
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Workplace Nursery Scheme

Employees can save thousands of pounds a year when using these benefits. For example, with the Workplace Nursery Scheme, if your monthly nursery fees are £1,000, you can save around £4,200 per year as a higher rate tax payer and over £2,900 as a basic rate tax payer.

In the current cost of living crisis, benefits like these represent a great helping hand when finances will be tight for many people.

Wellbeing benefits for staff

One of our newer programmes is our wellbeing package. It offers five videos on different areas of wellbeing that will help your staff tackle many of the stresses of life we will all feel this winter, particularly with the cost of living crisis.

At the same time, it gives the comfort that their employer cares deeply about their individual well-being and not just their productivity as an employee. (We don’t have to tell you how both of these are linked!)

Our well being videos cover the following key areas:

  • Sleep
  • Nutrition
  • Emotional agility
  • Finances
  • Mental Health Awareness

Time for a ‘benefits audit’?

It’s useful to pay attention to how much your employees are using certain benefits. When you work with Enjoy Benefits, ongoing administration is run through a hub. Employees manage their own benefits. And employers can see which benefits are proving popular with staff, and which ones have most and least take-up.

But, if any benefits are under-used, don’t jump to the conclusion that they’re not working for you and your employees.

It may be that your team is unaware of that benefit, or don’t yet understand fully the value that it can offer. Now may be a good time to communicate to your staff about the most under-used benefits, before you make any changes. This allows you to see if there’s any change in take-up, with time to make changes for the start of the new year, or the new financial year.

Take a look at our blog post on how to communicate effectively to your team about the opportunities and savings that employee benefits offer. Click here.

Summary

We hope this post has reminded you about the value of employee benefits – both to your staff and to your business. Everything worthwhile deserves a bit of time and attention, so this month is the ideal time to review how you’re investing in your staff via employee benefits that you offer.

Here’s what we advise you do for this review:

  • Get in touch with us for a no-obligation chat if you’re new to Employee Benefits
  • If you already have benefits with us, take time to review via the hub which ones are performing best and which ones need more comms
  • Arrange a chat with us if you’d like advice on adding new benefits to the ones your offer your staff
  • Browse our entire list of benefits on our website. We have handy headings that let you see what they offer to the employee and how they help your business
  • Take time to review our new wellness programme, if you’re not familiar with it. Supporting staff and showing you care about their well being is important all year around, but especially so as winter approaches and the cost of living creeps up.
